Jim Higginson opened his first shop at 3 Castle Bank, Tow Law, County Durham on Monday 4th September 1978 and in the years since has expanded the company to the six outlets that form Castle Bank Butchers today.

Formerly Steadman’s Butchers, we took over this highly reputable business in 2013 from Garth Steadman who spent over forty years building it up. Award winning sausages are a speciality; especially our genuine Cumberland rings, made in Cumbria to the PGI specification! Our Sedbergh shop serves as the base for all of our Internet orders, having had many years experience of sending the finest meats the length and breadth of the country.
