It's time to vote for your game heroes

The shortlists have been announced for the 2024 Eat Game Awards.

We had more businesses than ever before nominated, across the eight categories, and those listed below, received the most nominations.

Now it is time for you to vote for your favourites and everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets for the awards on 14 March, in London.

If you are one of the nominated businesses make sure you get all of your friends, family and customers to vote.

Award Categories

Best Restaurant or Pub

The restaurant/pub must serve a variety of game in season. There should be dishes that showcase the variety and versatility of game meat. They will also actively promote game dishes, for instance through Great British Game Week, a game menu, and pictures on their website/social media.

For this category online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

The three nominees with the most votes will go through to a final judging process by a mystery shopper visit, scored against a set criteria.

The chef or cook must serve a variety of game in season. There should be dishes that showcase the variety and versatility of game meat. They must also be an advocate for game, and promote the merits of it through resources available to them, be that menus, websites, social media or other media.

For this category online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

The three nominees with the most votes will go through to a final judging process by a mystery shopper visit, scored against a set criteria.

Best Game Cook

Best Small Retailer
(including market stall)

Small retailer, owning up to five shops, who has a range of game meat and game meat added value products for sale. Any farmers market stall or street food vendor selling game.

For this category online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

The three nominees with the most votes will go through to a final judging process by a mystery shopper visit, scored against a set criteria.

For multiple retailers with over five shops.

In this category, online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. The top three from the public vote will judged by our panel of expert judges for the final placings.

Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

Best Multiple Retailer

Best Game Butcher

Local butcher selling a range of game meat.

For this category online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

The three nominees with the most votes will go through to a final judging process by a mystery shopper visit, scored against a set criteria.

Any game product is eligible enter as long as they have added value. This can include pies, ready meals, ready to cook, charcuterie, pate etc. The award seeks to showcase new and exciting developments in game meat processing.

Best Added Value Product or Innovation

Best Influencer

The best news story of the year, best article, publicity or game meat influencer. To include best social media feed.

In this category, online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. The top three from the public vote will judged by our panel of expert judges for the final placings.

Nominees are actively encouraged to publicise their nomination to appeal for votes from the general public through whatever marketing tools they have available.

Any person, organisation or company educating the general public about game meat. This can include members of the public or teacher or lecturer.

In this category, online nominations are collated and the top 10 go forward for online public voting. The top three from the public vote will judged by our panel of expert judges for the final placings.
